MFG Day 2025 started with a bang thanks to Novonesis, a global leader in biosolutions manufacturing. Partnering with the Manufacturing Institute, the company invited over 300 10th grade high school students, education partners and community leaders to its flagship MFG Day 2025 event at its North American headquarters in Franklinton, North Carolina. A tour through their facilities allowed students to see the full array of opportunities available to them in modern manufacturing.

MFG Day matters because too many students still hold outdated perceptions of manufacturing careers. By investing in student engagement, manufacturers can help shift those views, grow the talent pipeline and inspire the next generation of creators.

  • According to research from the MI and Deloitte, manufacturers will need to fill nearly 3.8 million manufacturing roles by 2033. Nearly 1.9 million of those are expected to go unfilled due to the lack of skilled talent necessary to fill these jobs.

  • Students can’t be what they can’t see. By giving students a firsthand look at all the exciting careers on offer in the industry, manufacturers can attract more young people into the industry and put them on the path toward high-paying lifelong careers.

Celebrated annually on the first Friday in October, with events continuing throughout the month and beyond, MFG Day is a national grassroots movement that demonstrates the reality and future of modern manufacturing careers.

While this year’s MFG Day may be over, we are still celebrating October as MFG Month! Share your Manufacturing Month moments with us on social media using #MFGDay25. We want to celebrate every tour, every “aha!” moment, and every future innovator you’re inspiring. Follow MFG Day on LinkedIn to stay up to date with the latest.
