National Apprenticeship System Enhancements proposed by Department of Labor

The Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration released a National Apprenticeship System Enhancements Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM). This proposal includes significant changes to the registered apprenticeship system and will impact all current and future registered apprenticeship programs. Changes include how suitability of an occupation is determined, standards of a registered apprenticeship, program registration requirements, reporting requirements, etc. These changes will likely add significant reporting requirements to employers participating in Registered Apprenticeship programs and may require substantive changes to the programs themselves, depending upon their current design and the results of the DOL occupational designation. The DOL is accepting comments about this NPRM through March 18th. If you have a registered apprenticeship program, please consider reviewing the NPRM to see how it will impact your program and submit comments to DOL by the deadline. https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2024/01/17/2023-27851/national-apprenticeship-system-enhancements
