Employee Engagement

For decades, manufacturing has been a driving force of economic opportunity. The Manufacturing Institute is committed to inspiring future industry leaders and building a strong talent pipeline. Expanding access to manufacturing careers is critical to the industry’s future, including unlocking the potential of underrepresented talent.

Strengthening the Workforce

In order to close the skills gap, drive innovation and ensure the manufacturing industry’s long-term competitiveness, it is a business imperative that manufacturers increase the percentage of women and workers from non-traditional backgrounds in the sector. Women are the largest untapped talent pool to address the industry’s labor shortage. Women currently represent 29% of the manufacturing workforce, despite making up nearly half of the overall workforce. By creating pathways for workers from non-traditional backgrounds to enter and advance in manufacturing, the Manufacturing Institute is helping build a stronger workforce for generations to come.

Women MAKE America Initiative

Women MAKE America strengthens the modern manufacturing workforce by supporting the workers leading the industry at every level – from the shop floor to the C-suite. By ensuring employees have the resources, recognition and opportunities needed to thrive in their careers, Women MAKE America not only support today’s leaders but also inspires and equips the next generation to pursue careers in manufacturing. Through leadership development, mentorship and community building, Women MAKE America helps individuals build successful careers in manufacturing while strengthening the industry’s future.
