New Data on Manufacturing in States and Congressional Districts

The MI’s affiliate, the National Association of Manufacturers, has updated its facts page to include more up-to-date and informative data by state and Congressional district for the sector. This page will be continuously updated to reflect the latest data.

In addition, users can use a new interactive map to see data on output, employment, average manufacturing compensation, exports and top sectors.

Among other things, users can see the percentage of workers in each state that are employed in manufacturing. The top 10 states with the highest proportion of manufacturing employees are: 

  • Indiana (19.14%)
  • Wisconsin (18.70%)
  • Iowa (16.73%)
  • Michigan (15.93%)
  • Alabama (15.75%)
  • Mississippi (15.52%)
  • Arkansas (14.90%)
  • Kentucky (14.82%)
  • Ohio (14.19%)
  • Kansas (14.10%)
