HM Manufacturing saw an opportunity to break away from some long-standing traditions and cultural norms that were preventing the company from adapting to a changing industry. That meant increasing the number of women, people of color, and young adults working at the company.
HM has partnered with local community organizations that are focused on helping underserved communities. As a result, the company has implemented two paths to success for incoming interns; They can either follow the business track of the organization or learn about the manufacturing track. These relationships have led to HM flourishing with a young and diverse workforce.
Best Practices
- Interact with and learn from your younger workforce.
- Invest in networking activities and relationship building, whether they be face-to-face or through social networks.
